ERIE, Pa. – Michelee Curtze is an educator by trade and now she’s using her lifelong passion for learning and experience as a teacher to overcome a challenge she never thought she’d face.
With no family history of cancer, Curtze never anticipated hearing those three awful words: Invasive ductal carcinoma.
“Then you turn to friends and people dealing with it and once you hear their stories it takes your breath away,” Curtze said.
Known for her mental toughness and fierce physical capabilities, Curtze is an inspiration to many with the same terrifying diagnosis.
Curtze’s message is simple but strong: Knowledge is power. You’ll find her story among many others in Thursday’s Erie Times-News as it released it’s annual pink paper to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
Curtze is keeping her head held high as best she can and leaning on others for support.
