Residents from across the region take the oath to become US citizens.
Local leaders and guests joined the newly naturalized citizens at two United States citizenship ceremonies today at the Federal Courthouse in Erie. A total of 98 people took the oath of citizenship representing dozens of countries. The moment was one that many of them have long-awaited.
Fairview Resident Sagar Khire says, “I would say the ceremony is the epitome of the immigration journey. You spend 18 years through different loops. I came here on a student visa, then work visa, and then green card.”
The reason for two ceremonies today was because one event was postponed due to weather last month.
