Erie Zoo hosts ‘beach day’ for babies

Local News

ERIE, Pa. — Baby, it’s cold outside, but babies are enjoying beach fun at the Erie Zoo.

Infants and toddlers, ages 6 months to 24 months, played with water and sand as part of the zoo’s Edzoocation program, which offers different classes for families throughout the year.

“It’s cold outside,” Amy Heisler, education assistant, said. “So, we thought it would be fun to bring some warm weather.”

The class features singing, arts and crafts and a showcase of animals.

“So, we had a beach-themed craft,” Heisler said. “We made a Finding Nemo fish. We also met some animals that would live in the warm weather. We read a beach-themed story and then we had a beach-themed free play where we had different toys and things around the room for kids to play with.”

The next sessions for Beach Babies will be held Wednesday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
