Fortis Institute’s Erie campus will no longer be accepting students starting this week.
The career and trade school in Fairview Township will be closing up shop due largely to a bad relationship with the property landlord.
Current students will still be able to finish their degrees, but the company that owns Fortis, Education Affiliates based in Baltimore, is not renewing its lease.
A company spokesperson says at this time, there are no plans to open up another location in the Erie area.
David Freeman of Education Affiliates Incorporated says, “It has been definitely considered for a while and obviously been driven by our concerns with the business relationship with the landlord.”
The spokesperson says, at this point, their main focus is making sure that the current students are well-served.
