Extra police patrols hit the streets

As the weather warms up and everyone comes outdoors, extra police patrols are hitting the streets.

Erie Police are working to keep city streets safer by having more officers out and about. Along with the regular patrols, Erie Police have added extra crime unit patrols to the lower east side. Those officers are targeting gun crime.

Also taking to the streets are foot and bike patrol officers.

Police Chief Randy Bowers says the department’s busy season is the summer, however violence is always unpredictable.

The Byrne Grant funding project in Little Italy starts next Thursday. That’s where the police mobile precinct will be.
