FDA announces rules related to electronic cigarettes

Local News
E-cigarettes and vaporizers, something that will soon become a challenge to use because of a new FDA regulation.  The Food and Drug Administration finalized a rule extending its authority to all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, cigars, hookah tobacco and pipe tobacco, the FDA saying, “This announcement is an important step in the fight for a tobacco-free generation”.

When a person uses e- cigarettes they inhale vaporized liquid that often  contains nicotine.  These products have gained in popularity in recent years.  Now the FDA will have authority over e- cigarettes. This includes the marketing and manufacturing of the products.  They will be handled by the FDA like cigarettes and other forms of tobacco products.  The regulation also  includes banning sales to anyone under the age of 18.

The new regulation will not go into affect immediately, companies will need some time to adapt to the changes.
