ERIE, Pa. — The final piece of Erie’s 9/11 Memorial will be put in place as part of the 15th anniversary on Friday evening.
The last panel will be added to the memorial after it was started five years ago.
The panel recognizes the donors, Erie’s 9/11 Memorial committee and has quotes from people that were there the day of the attacks.
Mark Aleksandrowicz, the chair of the committee, said what started as a history lesson has become much more than that.
“It is almost on the people,” Aleksandrowicz said. “The people that were there, people that survived and the first responders who are now thousands of them going through health issues, personal issues.”
The panel will be put in place at 7:30 p.m. Friday. A service will be held at the memorial located at the Blasco Library on Sunday beginning at 8:46 a.m.
