The U.S. Brig Niagara isn’t setting sail anytime soon, but it’s never too early to prepare.
Dozens of community members visited the Erie Maritime Museum for the first sail training of the season.
These free training sessions are held on several Saturday mornings throughout the winter.
Each class is designed to develop skills needed to sail on the U.S. Brig Niagara.
“Right now we’re doing an orientation for the program and the museum and the vessel and just kind of getting everyone up to speed on what the program entails and how best they can kind of fit themselves in,” said David Goldman, the chief mate on the U.S. Brig Niagara.
People attending the training can sail on the Brig Niagara as volunteer crew members.
