Flooding preparation tips from our weather team and the Red Cross

Our team of meteorologists is tracking the approaching storm and we’ve already seen Mother Nature’s wrath today, from heavy fog to flooding.

The melting snow and ice jams create reason to be vigilant.  The Red Cross urging to take these steps if a flood warning is issued for your area:

  • Head for higher ground and stay there until the danger passes
  • If you’re driving and come across a flooded road, turn around; don’t drown
  • Be prepared, have an emergency kit (flashlight, first aid kit, critical medications…)

Stay tuned to JET 24 either on TV or via our Facebook page if the power goes out. And, remember, a flood watch means a flood or flash flood is possible, while a flood warning means it’s already occurring or will be soon.
