Hundreds of people around the area gathered to watch a unique sport. The Flyboard National Tour made a stop down at Dobbins Landing Saturday morning.
The event kicked off with a public practice followed by competitions. Both amateurs and professionals were able to perform their stunts and skills. Coordinators said this is exactly the kind of event Erie has been looking for.
“This is a big event for us and it’s great to see it all come together. We’re back out again tomorrow with competition again between ten and two o-clock and we’re just excited that things are coming together and a lot of people have come out to check it out,” said Mark Jeanneret, the Erie Sports Commission Events Director.
“Everyone’s really nice. Everyone came out to watch. We’re pretty excited want to have a good tournament hopefully everyone flies safe and we’ll see some cool tricks,” said Geoff Hulet, a participant.
This is the first year the tour has come to the area.
The winning competitors will earn a spot to compete again in the US championship later this year.
The winners at Erie were as follows:
1st Place – Sean Ray (West Hampton Beach, New York)
2nd Place – Rush Bragg (West Palm Beach, Florida)
3rd Place – TJ Andrews (Polson, Montana)
