Former Erie man pleads guilty to bank robbery

A former Erie resident pleads guilty in federal court to a charge of bank robbery. 

37 year old Peter Plaza, Jr. pleaded guilty to one count before United States District Judge Susan Paradise Baxter. 

On December 13th of last year, Plaza robbed the Northwest Savings Bank at 3407 Liberty Street in Erie.  

Judge Baxter scheduled sentencing for August 7th at 10:30 a.m.

According to the Department of Justice, the law provides for a total sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
