Foul play suspected in Wallace Street death, woman afraid of ex-boyfriend

Local News

Police are investigating a suspicious death of a woman in the 2500 block of Wallace Street.

Erie police were called to the 2500 blk of Wallace around 9:50 this morning, where they confirm they found the body of a 32-year-old woman.  The neighborhood is adjacent to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

EPD tells us an acquaintance of the woman found her and went across the street to Magistrate Paul Bizzarro’s office and then notified 911.

Police tell us they’re not exactly sure what the manner of the death was, but there appears to have been some type of a trauma. They say it appears that the woman had an injury on her neck by what looks like a sharp instrument and that is being investigated.

A neighbor, who chose to be anonymous, told us the woman had two sons’ one of them 11-years-old.  He tells us that she said she was scared of her ex-boyfriend and asked the neighbor to be there when he showed up.  He says he told her no because he had family at home he had to be with.

The woman’s best friend says she spoke to her around 8am and that they were planning on going job searching together.  “I hope justice is served… if something went wrong… I mean, really, I want my friend back but that’s not gonna happen.”

Coroner Lyell Cook tells us the autopsy for the body is scheduled for 11am Tuesday morning.
