A free-standing brick wall has collapsed onto 16th Street. Penelec was on scene earlier and JET 24’s Syeda Abbas reported live.
This was the former Watson Paper Company Building. The Erie Fire Department has responded to multiple fires here in the past.
The incident happened between Holland and French. The bricks were all over the road. A pole was struck, so Penelec was here to check the wires. The good news is there aren’t any injuries.
Security that works for the owner of the building told us the wind was a big factor. The windy conditions made it difficult for the cleaning crew to get things done. The roadway is now cleared of all the bricks. The clean up should be done by tomorrow morning.
