Following a massive lay off earlier this year cutting 1500 from the Erie plant. Employees are upset now that their jobs are on the chopping block once again.
General Electric Transportation making the announcement this afternoon. Saying 190 jobs will either be cut or possibly transferred to other GE affiliate locations. Also, saying GE plans to transfer some non production work to local Erie businesses.
GE says this cut will allow GE to remain competitive by increasing productivity and reducing costs. The community i supset but many employees say they are not shocked.
Fox 66 news speaking with a GE employee of more than a decade. She says she’s not surprised that GE is making cuts once again. Some family members of GE employees also concerned saying there are no jobs remaining in the area similar to the ones at GE.
