General Electric has agreed to a union request to negotiate nearly 200 job transfers, but both sides said it won’t be easy.
GE’s contract with U.E. Local 506 allows for contract concessions to save jobs.
A spokesperson for the company said the talk will be tough, but hopefully productive as well.
A release from the union said, “We are not just fighting for these 181 jobs, but our 1,291 bothers and sisters on the street.”
No date for the talks has been set.
