Girard businesses see improvements with ECGRA’s help

Local News

Facade grants are already at work in one Erie County community.  The Girard Borough is partnering with ECGRA through the Mission Main Street program.

It’s a 60/40 match program with the landowners and the borough meant to improve the appearance of the historic downtown.  The goal is to encourage owners to invest in their properties.

That work is underway for some of the buildings in Girard. Bill Palmer with Randy’s Carpentry Plus says, “It’s brought a lot to it. A lot of people have commented on how much better it looks now and you can see the detail in the work on the buildings. They really are beautiful buildings down here.”

Contractors say they’re working on proposals for some of the buildings on the north side of Main Street as well.
