The city of Erie is in the midst of another lawsuit over the battle of who should fill a vacancy in the city treasurer’s office.
A hearing is set for Sept. 9 in the battle between City Treasurer Susan DiVecchio and Mayor Joe Sinnoot.
Attorney Rick Filippi, who is representing DiVecchio, said the city has filed its preliminary objections to the lawsuit, arguing what specific language in city code means.
Sinnott and Solicitor Greg Karle say the treasurer only has the option to hire employees in her office, that it’s not obligatory.
Filippi said he plans to file a response next week.
