Heavy police response to standoff in McKean

Shortly after midnight Friday morning, Pennsylvania  State Police were dispatched to the 83-hundred block of Lowe road. 

  According to the criminal complaint — Pennsylvania State Police receiving a phone call from  49- year -old Craig Humphries saying he was feeling depressed and wanted “to end it.” 

During the call Humphries disclosing he had a .45 caliber handgun and shotgun near by and was “looking for clips” for an assault rifle. Humphries … also indicating he had been drinking and had taken some sleeping pills. 

Once State Police arrived on the scene, Humpries barricading himself in the house. Cutting off all communication with police. The complaint noting several gunshots were heard from inside the house. It took the  Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team and other units over 9 hours to convince Humphries to  surrender without incident. 

He faces several charges including terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person.

Humphries family also at the scene waiting for the standoff to end, not commenting on the situation. 

Humphries is now in the Erie County Prison. Mckean District Judge Denise Lewis setting bail at $150,000.
