ERIE, Pa. — Police said a heroin overdose is the suspected cause of a car accident on the city’s east side on Monday.
Police and fire crews responded to the crash on East 21st and French streets around 9:45 a.m.
Police said an Erie Animal Enforcement officer observed the vehicle in a parking lot roll into reverse, crossing East 21 Street before striking a fence.
Police said the man was alone in the care when he left the vehicle in reverse and had drug overdose.
No other vehicles were involved.
The man was arrested and is expected to be charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Police said the man did not sustain any injuries from the car accident.
