Heroin overdoses rise in Erie

In the county the largest percentage of heroin overdoses are in the City of Erie.

According to Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook one use of heroin will change your brain chemistry forever.

Erie saw 59 drug deaths in 2015 alone. 32 were heroin related. The victims ranged from the ages of one to 94.

Cook says heroin deaths are now cutting across all ages, education levels, genders and races. He says there are no commonalities to put your  finger on.

Undercover cops say heroin has become the dominate street drug in Erie.

Recovering addicts say it’s fairly easy to find heroin throughout Erie.
