With the holidays just around the corner, it’s easy to lose track of some common sense fire prevention tips.
Here are some of the do’s and don’ts of fire safety:
- For starters, keep your Christmas tree watered. You want to try and keep it as best-hydrated as you can. If the needles fall off easily, that means the tree is already drying out.
- Make sure your Christmas lights aren’t frayed. If they are, you want to get rid of them.
- Candles are another big one; make sure you have a one-foot safety area around the candle.
Chief Fire Inspector John Widonski says, “if you do use extension cords for your lighting, make sure they’re for indoor or outdoor use. Try to keep them away from doorways so they don’t get snagged or caught and cause a short:”
