Holiday village, complete with pop-up retailers, planned for this year’s Downtown D’Lights ceremony

Local News

Preparation for the annual event is underway at Perry Square.  The Erie Downtown Partnership confirms Downtown D’Lights will take place on December 7th.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus will stand alongside Mayor Joe Schember to officially light up the park at 6:05.  Then, at 6:15, the city’s first 35-foot community holiday tree will also be lit in a special ceremony.

John Buchna of the Erie Downtown Partnership says, “It’s for our community. It’s for them, for all of the hardworking people that are here, for all the families and the friends, the people that visit. To me, it’s why the event exists and why it should exist. It enables us to bring people together.”

Representatives with the Downtown Partnership also unveiled plans for a holiday village, made up of seasonal pop-up retailers.  That will kick off the same night as Downtown D’Lights.
