The shooting happened near the parking garage of the Courtyard by Marriott Erie Bayfront Hotel. Two men were shot during the altercation. Both are believed to have come from the Chicago area.  It is believed to have been a drug deal gone wrong. Erie police Deputy Chief Mike Nolan says that there was a large amount of heroin on site.

“It’s highly unusual for something like this to happen down there. This is not an area where this activity occurs, for a lot of reasons,” said Deputy Chief Michael Nolan. “For one of the reasons, it’s a very secure area, a lot of cameras. Police presence is always close by.”

Nolan tells us two men are in custody and they are searching for two more.

The City of Erie Police are continuing to investigate the shooting using video and data evidence.
