For the past 17 years, basset hound lovers head to Union City for the annual Slobberfest. It’s a day filled with fun and games for the dogs and their owners, but it also serves a purpose.
From the floppy ears, to the droopy eyes, and of course, that signature coat; it doesn’t take a detective to spot a basset hound. And, when there’s a few hundred under one tent, it’s no mystery that good times will be had.
The Droopy Basset Hound Rescue of Western Pennsylvania says it’s their biggest fundraiser of the year.
Dave Slomski, Basset Owner, says, “The dogs not only come from the local area but from all across the country. It’s really impressive. I think Basset owners are similar to the breed and are a unique breed in and among themselves.”
Event organizers say they’re already planning for next year’s event. If you’d like to be a part of this crew, maybe it’s time to adopt a basset of your very own!
