The land that held one of Erie’s industrial giants won’t come with a big tax bill – at least not for another decade.
The Erie School Board voted unanimously in favor of keeping the former International Paper site as a Keystone Opportunity zone.
According to board member Ed Brzezinski., the tax abatement that comes with that designation would be extended for 10 more years.
It’s hoped the move will make the land more attractive for development.
Earlier this year, Interstate Chemical Co. announced plans to build two plants on the International Paper site.
