Saint Paul’s Italian Festival filled the streets of Little Italy today.

The sights, sounds and smells of Erie’s Italian heritage were available for the asking at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church.

The festival celebrates the church’s “feast of the assumption”.

“One of the things I really love about this festival is that I come down here every year and you run into people you see here every year and its like a big family reunion of everyone that has grown up in this neighborhood. It’s a celebration of the neighborhood and sharing our neighborhood values with those throughout the Erie community,” said Timothy Necastro.
The festival goes until 10 pm tonight with “The Italian Cousins” on stage. Sunday, the festival runs noon until 8 pm, with an 11 a.m. mass celebrated by Bishop Persico followed by the traditional procession of the blessed Virgin Mary, through Little Italy.
