An Ohio judge was wounded and a suspect killed earlier today after a man reportedly opened fire outside a Jefferson County, Ohio courthouse.
The incident happened at approximately 8am today when the suspect and a passenger pulled up in an alley next to the Jefferson County Courthouse where the suspect allegedly told the passenger he had a court appearance.
According to Sheriff Fred Abdalla, Judge Joseph Bruzzese, Jr. was wounded after shots were fired outside of the courthouse. The suspect was shot and killed after a probation officer returned fire. The judge was rushed to a Pittsburgh hospital.
James Mavromatis, City Manager, tells us, “we look through everything. Any video cameras the city may have, if the court has any. We have to look through everything and that’s why it takes time.”
According to Mavromatis, Judge Bruzzese is out of surgery and doing well.
