Jury selection begins for 71-year-old accused of shooting at police during alleged domestic incident

A man accused of trying to kill a law enforcement officer had his day in court today.

71-year-old Anthony LaCastro reportedly fired several rounds from an AR-15 rifle at State Police while they were responding to a call for a domestic dispute. 

The incident happened in the 2300 block of Dorn Road last January.  LaCastro also took a bullet to the abdomen that night.  He faces numerous charges including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer of the first degree, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person. 

At the preliminary hearing, LaCastro maintained his innocence.

Jury selection began this morning for his trial.
