Keeping Pennsylvania Beautiful is a community effort and this year, that meant thousands of volunteers rolling up their sleeves.
From picking up tens of thousands of pounds of trash to planting trees and cleaning up trails, Pennsylvania committed many hours of manpower to improving our communities. Here’s how it breaks down for the past year: In Erie County, more than 2500 volunteers put on 84 events to pick up more than 21,000 pounds of trash, properly disposed of 324 tires, and cleaned up 102 miles of trails, roadways, and shoreline.
In Crawford County, it took 853 volunteers to organize 82 events. Those crews picked up 13,000 pounds of garbage and cleaned up more than 1500 miles of roads and trails.
