Some students get to feel the spotlight as they head into school this morning. Several businesses and volunteers join the City Mission Youth Ministry in welcoming students on their first day.
Volunteers set up red carpets at a few Erie schools. Community members cheer for the students on their way in. Coordinators say it’s a great confidence booster for the kids. City Mission Director of Youth Ministries, RoseMarie Lackey, tells us, “This how now multiplied into many schools and we’re really excited because what kid doesn’t need a cheerleader? Especially on their first day coming back to school.”
Both GE and Erie Insurance, along with athletes form Mercyhurst and Penn State Behrend, helped make the event possible.
