Lacastro pleads not guilty, bond set at $500,000

A 71-year-old man is heading to trial after authorities say he got into a shooting match with state troopers.  Today, Anthony Lacastro had his preliminary hearing in Summit Township District Court.

On January 8th, Lacastro allegedly fired multiple rounds from an AR-15 rifle at State Police while they were responding to a call for a domestic dispute.  The incident happening in the 2300 block of Dorn Road.  

A judge held all charges for court, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment.  Lacastro entered a not guilty plea and maintains his innocence.

Brian Arrowsmith, Lacastro’s Attorney, says, “Now that we’ve had the hearing, there’s just a lot more questions and things that we’re gonna want to look into, things that we want to see from the District Attorney once they actually do turn over all of their evidence.”

Lacastro also took a bullet to the abdomen that night.  The judge set bond at $500,000 following the hearing.
