Ready, set, glow! The sky around Lake Erie Speedway will light up this weekend.
Thousands will join together for an unforgettable spectacle in the sky, and before the lanterns fly there’s music, facepainting, s’mores and princesses. We’re told everyone has their own reason for sending off a lantern. Historically, lanterns were used to symbolize good fortune, request favorable weather, or to celebrate the life of a loved one.
Event Director Deven Baum tells us, “after, we do have lantern chasers follow the lanterns to see where they fall. We have a crew that goes out the next morning and picks up the majority of the lanterns.”
Lantern Fest. takes over Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday. Gates open at 4pm. Lanterns will fly when the sun goes down.
