“Largest develoment in the history of UPMC Hamot” discussed at Council Study Session

Two huge projects are in the spotlight at Erie City Hall as city council holds the first of two study sessions.  

One part focused on plans for the largest development in the history of UPMC Hamot.  Construction of a new seven story patient tower in the 100 block of East 2nd Street will cost $111 million.

Erie City Council member, Casimir Kwitowski, says, “There’s so many plans out there.  You know, when you have Gannon, Erie Insurance…by working together I think it’s working out nice and we can plan and plan with them these things which council has to do for them.”  

The city of Erie’s comprehensive plan was also discussed.  Council receiving an update from the action committee in charge of Erie Refocused.

Kwitowski says they had numerous questions, especially about increased enforcement of building codes in several neighborhoods.
