Senator Dan Laughlin says the statute of limitations bill is not dead and could likely come up for a vote at sessions in the future.

He tells us everyone in the Senate wants to help the victims, however, he says there are some areas for concern when it comes to approving a two-year window.

“The first few plaintiffs that go in that are well organized will-win giant lawsuits and bankrupt these Dioceses, and then there won’t be any money left for the rest of the victims so they’ll be victimized again… It’s not that we feel like the church should be immune to these lawsuits. It’s just the best path forward on how to make sure everybody gets a crack at their own justice.”
