Lead levels reported as excessive at former Emerson-Gridley school

February 20, 2019 – The drinking water is shut off at one Erie school after tests show excessive levels of lead.


         The school district notified families with children at the former Emerson- Gridley School about the test results today.


         Superintendent Brian Polito confirms a post on the district’s facebook page revealing the lead level in the water at the Dipaolo Student Success Center at Emerson-Gridley was 15.9 parts per billion.


         The acceptable level is 15 parts.


         Water fountains have been shut off and bottled water brought in.


         The problem was found during required testing of all 16 district buildings.
