Little Italy brings fresh produce to Erie residents with a Farmers’ Market.
The Sisters of Saint Joseph host the Little Italy Farmers’ Market every Monday between Myrtle and Chestnut streets. The last Monday of the month features live music, local artists, and fresh produce.
One woman, Carrie Sachse, says her business, French Street Farms, is Erie’s first commercial urban farm. It’s a business that took two years to come to fruition and is now in its first growing season. “It was just an idea for a business that I had for Erie; to put some vacant land back into reuse and give people more options for fresh local food.”
There is a lot of demand for fresh produce, so you’ll want to come early, as many sell out fast.
