Local bands The Groove and The C. Brown Band open on the main stage for the legendary Ohio Players. These are just a few of the Erie-native bands that will take to the stages of this year’s event. The Schember administration says they have packed as many local acts as they could into this event.
“So when we bring our businesses , our restaurants, our food trucks and our local artists, talent and bands together, it really is a celebration of the city which is what we’re here to do,” says Aaron Lonki, the city’s media and events coordinator.
For many of the performers, playing this stage is an honor. Charles Brown, is a local musician who is well-known for his empowering lyrics. He explains how he feels about performing on this stage. “It gives me a chance to like, put it out there to Erie that there is a lot of good art going on around here. So I just feel like I am representing everyone who does what I do an it’s just an honor to be a vessel,” says Brown.
