ERIE, Pa. — If someone walks up to you and hands you a flower today, there’s a reason.
It’s Good Neighbor Day.
This is the 22nd year florists have made Good Neighbor Day an event people talk about for some time.
Carl Larese, ownwer of Larese Floral Design, 3857 Peach St., has put together hundreds of bouquets for this event in the 14 years he has participated in the event.
The rules are easy: Bring in a non-perishable item and in exchange you’ll receive a dozen flowers and you keep one and hand out the other 11.
“We even have people that come in two or three times because they ran out of flowers and want to keep doing it and they do it all day long and bring in more food and we give them more flowers,” Larese said.
All the food collected will be donated to the Emmaus Soup Kitchen.
