Local school has ‘reunification’ drill…

Local News

In the event of an active shooter, or school evacuation, it’s important parents, teachers and students are all on the same page.

That was the purpose of today’s reunification drill at Robison Elementary School in Summit Township. The scenario was that the students were taken from Fort LeBoeuf High School after an incident and bused to Robison Elementary School where they were reunited with their parents or guardians.

The districts have what schools or meeting places will be used in the event of a crisis situation where the students are evacuated.

Resource Officer Steve Oler tells us, “Reunification occurs after we have an event, maybe, an active shooter… where we need to get the kids out of that area and bring them to safety so parents can be united with them in a safe area”.

Each school has a different school or place to go to in the event of an emergency.
