Vinyl is making a triumphant return, and one local shop is preparing for National Record Store Day tomorrow.
The owner at Graham’s Used Vinyl on West 26th Street is busy stocking his shelves full of new, some never-before-seen vinyl records ahead of the big day Saturday.
Owner Michael Graham says he just picked up a shipment of brand new records Friday, some special or limited edition releases, so it’s not the same old offerings folks might see throughout the year.
Graham says he could not be happier with vinyl’s resurgence in pop culture.
“Vinyl is extremely collectible, people who are very much in touch with their music it’s nice to have it on your phone or on your computer and it’s convenient but it’s not a collection – it’s just a means of listening to it. If you want to collect, vinyl is king,” said Graham.
The store will be open from 9am until 6pm Saturday for National Record Store Day. The store is also running a special: 20% off all used vinyl and if you spend more than $100, that discount jumps to 50% off.
