Man accused of scalding disabled person in his care gets 2.5-5 years in prison

A caregiver charged with abusing a person with disabilities will face time behind bars.

Today, Akeem Nixon returned to the Erie County Courthouse for sentencing.  Prosecutors say Nixon poured scalding water on a mentally disabled man, burning him.  The incident happened at a Lakeshore Community Services residential home on West 7th Street last June.

Nixon pleaded guilty to neglect of care and aggravated assault. Today, the judge sentenced him to 2.5-5 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation.
