Erie Police charged a man with kidnapping someone he says took items from him. Police say he then tried to extort the man’s girlfriend into paying for the goods.

29-year-old Kenneth Joint was taken into custody at a convenience store where he thought the woman was going to pay him.

Police said he had held the man against his will and restrained him with a bag over his head in the 800 block of East 22nd Street.

Joint is charged with kidnapping, unlawful restraint and related charges. He allegedly sent the woman text message showing her fiance tied up.

Bond has been set at $200,000.
