An Erie man sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars could be released. Antonio Howard resentenced today to 20-50 years and given credit for the 26 years already served.
Howard was convicted of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Richard Stevens in 1991. Today, the ruling making Howard eligible for parole. Howard, now 41 years old, was 15 at the time he and two other teenagers were charged with shooting Stevens during a robbery.
Howard is the second Erie County Juvenile sentenced to life behind bars to be resentenced after the US Supreme Court ruled those under 18 years of age sentenced to life in prison as unconstitutional.
