Man fatally shot in head while another hunter attempts to raise rifle to tree stand with rope

There was a fatal hunting accident in Ashtabula County, one man shot in the forehead by another hunter.

The incident occurred in Ashtabula County in a wooded area near North Bend Road, west of Route 45.  The County Coroner’s Office said 41-year-old Jared Windler of Saybrook Township was killed instantly when he was accidentally shot.  They say one hunter was pulling a gun up into a tree stand with a rope when it discharged, striking the victim who was at the base of the tree. 

The accident happened early Sunday morning.
