A Chautauqua Grand Jury has handed up an indictment for 35-year-old Tyler Perez for his role in the death of a 16-month-old baby girl, Nayla Hodnett, in April of 2014. Their indictment includes two counts of murder in the second degree and first-degree manslaughter.
According to investigators, in 2014, the child was brought to WCA Hospital in Jamestown by the mother. She was eventually transferred to a Buffalo hospital but died of injuries police described as blunt force trauma. An autopsy was performed and the cause of death ruled a homicide.
Investigators confirm that both the mother and the mother’s boyfriend, Tyler Perez, were considered “persons of interest” at the time.
Jamestown police tell us Perez was taken into custody after being located on Willard Street in Jamestown and was taken to the county jail, where he was arraigned this morning. He remains in jail on a $500,000 cash or $1 million property bond.
