Man’s body found, identified during water rescue search in Mill Village

The body of a man who went missing while swimming in French Creek Sunday night has been identified.

Pennsylvania State Police identify the victim as Enalmin Roman-Vargas, 39, of Waterford.

Roman-Vargas was reported missing when he did not resurface while swimming with others in the area of 1407 French Creek Road in Le Boeuf Township, according to State Police.

The Crawford County Scuba Team found the victim’s body in approximately 6 feet of water around 2:20 Monday morning.

Pennsylvania State Police said the investigation is continuing.


According to Erie County 911 dispatch, a man in his late 30’s went missing around 10pm Sunday in the 1400 block of French Creek Road. The man was reportedly swimming in French Creek with several others when he disappeared. Mill Village volunteers called for mutual aid from area fire departments, including the Crawford County Scuba Team. A crew from Lake City was also called to help search for the man.

Pennsylvania State Police have confirmed that the coroner has been called to the scene; it is believed the body that was found is that of the missing man.
