Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook rules on the death of a work-release prison worker who died after suffering a medical emergency while on assignment.
Cook says Felix Manus died from natural causes due to an asthma attack. Manus died June 11th after suffering an asthma attack under Erie County care through a work-release program. Cook says it took several weeks to gather complete results from the autopsy. “Every autopsy that’s performed, we do histological studies which are microscopic slides and it takes some time for those to come and regardless of what the incident is, that is done on every case.”
Manus’ family has filed a wrongful death civil suit against the county. His loved ones say Manus died because prison workers failed to call 9-1-1.
