Erie has been selected to join a wordwide effort focused on city’s trying to revitalize themselves.
Mastercard has announced Erie is being added to its “global city possible network.” There are now 22 cities from six countries in the network. The goal is for them to work together solving problems they are all dealing with like aging infrastructure. The Executive Director of Erie Downtown Development Corporation reacted to the news earlier tonight on Jet 24.
“This is a collectgion of cities around the world that are on the cutting edge. Through the work of the Erie Downtown Development Corporation and Erie Innovation District, we joined cities like Dubai, Dublin, Melbourne and Australia. So, the whole community should be proud of this,” said Persinger.
The other five new members of the global city possible network are in Argentina, Brazil, Ireland and the United States.
