Bikers are revving up their engines as motorcycle season begins.
As motorcyclists are getting their bikes back on the road, one local biker organization is trying to spread awareness about motorcycle safety. “It’s important for safety because I am somebody, somebody’s grandparent, somebody’s brother,” said Tom Wonner. Wonner is the Vice President of the Erie County chapter of the Alliance of Bikers Aimed Towards Education. “Just be aware, have your bike under control, a safe distance,” said Wonner.
A.B.A.T.E of PA recommends doing a complete safety check on your bike before taking it out for the season. “You know, make sure everything is working, the lights, horn, whatever… do an inspection on your bike before you leave,” said David Astemborski. Astemborski is the president of A.B.A.T.E of Erie County. He says everyone on the road needs to pay attention to insure safety for all. “Cars, they need to look twice because… we can’t stop as well as they think we can and we can react… but not as fast as the car,” said Astemborski. Wonner and Astemborski both say drive safe and have fun on motorcycles this season. If you want more information about motorcycle safety, you can visit the A.B.A.T.E of Erie County Facebook page.
