With a new mayor, comes a new approach for the city, and that includes changes in key positions.
Friday morning mayor-elect Joe Schember announced personnel appointments within his administration.
13 people are taking on, or continuing positions.
Renee Lamis will serve as the Chief of Staff.
Niken Astari Carpenter will serve as Executive Assistant.
Michael Outlaw will serve as the Community Liaison, focusing on minority relations, police and Unified Erie, along with Kathy Wyrosdick as the director of planning for the City of Erie.
Chris Groner will be promoted to the Director of Economic and Community Development.
Debra Smith will take on the role of Assistant Director of Economic and Community Development.
Schember added a new full-time position for the city grant writer. Abigail Skinner will take on that job.
Edward Betza will serve as City Solicitor in a part-time capacity.
Guy Santone will remain the Fire Chief.
Paul Lichtenwalter will continue as Director of Finance.
Dave Mulvihill will still serve as Director of Public Works.
Connie Cook will also remain as the Human Resources Manager in the Office of Personnel.
However, Schember is appointing a new police chief.
In the new year, Lt. Daniel Spizarny will be promoted to Erie Police Chief.
